Thanksgiving Feast! Yum YumYum

We had a GREAT FEAST! We had a great turn out of family. We want to thank you for coming.

We want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!
We hope you get to relax and enjoy every moment.

"My Little Box"
Last year my family went around the table and said what we were grateful for. I was grateful for my family, everyone was there! Sadly this year when I say that, I will be missing one member of my family. My first true love, no one could ever measure up...my poor husband...HaHaHa. He was my Pappaw, my one and only! So while this will be a hard time for me, it will also be a time to be very thankful and grateful for the friends and family that I will surround myself with this season. We are all so blessed in so many ways. I am blessed with my family and friends and with your children. Thank you so much for putting your trust in us and allowing us to teach your children. They in return do teach us a lot as well! I am truly blessed by your children. They are all so different and wonderful! Thank you for sharing!
I wish for each and every one of you to get back to the basics, sit around this holiday and be thankful and grateful. Thank the Lord for everything you have, yes even the dirty laundry. I do, if I didn't have laundry, my children would be grown and gone. I might even be thankful for a little arguing...maybe.
I always think...if I wish they would be quiet...what if something happened and they weren't there, then it would be quiet but not how I intended. So I guess I will be thankful for that too.

Okay, I guess I will get off of my little box...

Everyone have a great, safe, relaxing...if possible, grateful, thankful, wonderful, and Happy Thanksgiving!!!

PINK APPLES! A lesson for the teacher...

Apples Apples everywhere,
Sauce we will make too,
But only a couple will try a bite
A precious few...
will try two!

Actually everyone tried it but only a few asked for more.

It was tart! ...but good!

Just a little play time...

We colored apples today that went along with our Little Red House story.
It is a story about a little boy who needs to find a little red house with no windows or doors and a star in the middle. It took him a few trys but he found it!

We followed directions and used our very fine motor skills when we put cut paper on our apple picture. It was a little messy but it was fun. We got to pick our favorite color apple...or maybe our friends favorite color.

Oh and did you know that you are never too old to learn something new.
Gretchen had to leave early for a lunch date with mom, so she took her paper to finish. I asked her what her favorite color apple was and she said pink! Well we had purple apples and blue apples, which I wouldn't let them do because that isn't really an apple color...but neither is pink. So... I was going to say Pink isn't a real apple color.... When mom said it really is! Low and behold, there are pink apples. Gretchen's mommy said they were apple snobs...well I'm an apple snob! I only see Granny Smiths when I go to the store and when my kids get Red Delicious, I wonder who put those in my fridge! SO I had to go and find these pink apples. They said they were a cross between a granny smith and a ... well I don't remember, I just heard granny smith. Oh did I say I was wearing me shirt that said...It's cute how you think I'm listening. Call me a child but next time I tell my children to go clean their room and bring me their laundry and all I get is laundry...I will remember pink apples!

Here is what you were waiting for, PICTURES!!!

Let us all work together...

Well what a difference a cold weekend makes!

We started off this morning working for others, taking care of them, helping them and just plain old having fun! I could probably write a ten page blog on how we had fun this morning. I hope catching them off guard explains it enough.

They are very entertaining to watch.

While some wanted a full meal and desert others wanted to read books or at least listen to a story. Now that was too cute to hear!

We missed a few of our friends today, we hope they get to feeling better!

Those turkeys are slowly making there way into the classroom. I think they were so decorated that they forgot that they were turkeys! We are still missing one or two. I hope that they won't make it onto some one's table!

We had a "Follow Directions" project today with our scarecrows. Here are the results...I think they get better every time. We all sat around the table and we all colored the same thing. One color and one section at a time. Some of us got a little tired of it but fought through the "pain" and colored very well. Others colored away! (and so did some of the children... :,) )

All in all, I think we had a great day!

Please don't forget about our Thanksgiving Feast this Friday!!!
We will see you there!

But I'm Hungry...

Oh! What a sad day we had on Friday. We could not complete our soup because we did not have several of our ingredients. So we will wait to see if any more trickle in and we will make it then. If not we will cross that bridge later!

So on to better things...
I forgot my camera on Friday so I sat in time out.
I will try not to do that again, I promise.

This coming week will be busy, busy, busy!
We will be getting our last minute Thanksgiving projects done.
Making sure everyone understands Thanksgiving.
Then we will be off for a week. WOW, what a blessing. I hope you all are able to spend a lot of that time together. The children will need some adjustment time when we come back, but not a lot. Let's jump right back on track.
We will have A TON of things to do before Christmas. I know somethings can not be helped but try to have them come every day. We have several great projects for Christmas and it will be crazy. Most times we won't have time to go back and make them up. We will try but a lot of the time, it is just not possible. I know that sound rude and bad, but it is hard when we try to get to everything we have planned, plus more.
So if possible, that would be great, but like I said things come up, children get sick and so on.

This is WAY OFF TOPIC:
For those of you who were keeping up with our children and soccer:
Mrs. Renee's oldest girls went the entire season undefeated. WOW! We had a tournament this weekend Fri- Sun. and they came in first or second, her youngest daughter and son came in first in their division!!! Her oldest son came in,...I am not sure but I am sure it was good! As far as I know there were no injuries to her family.
Dakota's team came in second in their division. We did have a few injured. But hey, that's the love of the game. Now it's time for softball for our girls! Baseball for her boys! (or boy, I am not sure this year) Kacey will be playing too, so if your girls want to play softball, they can get started. It is never to early.

Okay, that's it for now, get ready for the down hill spiral out of control!!!
Here comes Christmas!

Giving Thanks

Today was a very busy day. I forgot to take a lot of pictures. We got back into things, habits, and we were painting and creating away!

Did you ask them about our chapel story? See if they can tell you, but we all need a little boost sometimes so here are a few hints to prompt them with: What was the mans name Mrs. Kathy talked about? Was he a strong man or a weak man? Did this man fight for God's people? Did this man ever cut his hair? Did someone else ever cut his hair? What was his name again?

See what kind of answers you get....

We talked about being thankful and even animals need to be thankful. We painted a squirrel, and we will read Earl the Squirrel tomorrow. We will be finishing Earl then as well.

We went over our new turkeys. We talked about those and how they were made and who helped. We are still missing a couple so I hope to get to those tomorrow or on Monday.

We have our soup tomorrow as well so it is leading up to a very busy day again!!!

We have received a lot of items for our food drive and here they are. Thank you Thank you Thank you! Many of you have brought in bags of items and I want to thank you for that. This has been our best year, in our class. If that flows over into the other classes in the school, that would be awesome! We will have the best year over all - ever!

I hope you can read the Legend of the 5 kernels. They had fun doing this, even though it was a simple project. The colored corn was neat to them.
(I have a question - Do you remember the colored corn? I can't seem to find it anywhere. If you find it could you please let me know. You don't need to get it, I will get it, I just can't find it...Thank you!!!)

So let's see... We had turkey talk, met a squirrel, talked about giving, and the 5 kernels and had a free color time, no rules....well almost no rules. If they come home and say I don't like scribble scrabble...that is one of our rules. No grabbing a color and scribbling color on a page to be done. Scribble scrabble.
We also have to hold it right, other than that...no rules!

I liked this picture. Gretchen took her time and covered it all up. She likes colors! It's fall...there is color everywhere!

We will have our soup tomorrow! YUM YUM YUM!

Can you smell the turkey? It's getting close!

I want to thank everyone for bringing in their soup ingredients. I didn't write "can" on the first note - my fault! So when I sent out the reminder on Monday and it said can but you already sent in a dried bag or something different, don't worry about it! I didn't intend for you to go back out and buy more. "I" should have put "can" on there. I didn't mean to cause problems or rub anyone the wrong way. Sorry for the mess.

Turkey's Turkey's Everywhere!!!

(Hey, Sorry it took so long...even after my note!!! It was a holiday and we had to go to the parade and such. BUT here it is!!!)

We had so many wonderful turkeys! We enjoyed getting all of those turkeys in our class. Some were silly as William said and some were good enough to eat!

We talked about how the children decorated the turkeys and who helped them. We got some interesting stories. We will go over the others on Wed.

We free painted our Blessing picture. The children did very well at water coloring. Our goal here is to get them to rinse their brush between colors and not to soak their paper. We work on getting them to hold their brush like a pencil as well.

We had another semi crazy day though. We are supose to have music in the morning and we ended up not having it until the afternoon, so to speak. It kind of threw us for a loopy morning. So even though it wasn't a rainy day today... we laid around and looked at books when our projects were over.

Don't forget to bring in your items for our food drive. I will show you tomorrow how much we have already.

And don't forget our Thanksgiving soup items! We need these to make our snack on Friday!!!

I hope your children come home and tell you all about what they are learning. Sometimes it gets lost in the play time...which is sometimes more important to them.

Ask them about chapel on Wed. see if they can re-tell the story to you.
If you haven't noticed the Motivation for Moms on the right of the blog, take a look. It changes everyday...words to live by or to strive towards. (Just my 2 cents)

(One last thing...I have lunch bunch on Wed. so I will post late in the afternoon.)

What a rainy and crazy, not lazy, day.

Well let’s see, we got to play a little longer today, which might have been a bad idea, but we did it anyway.

We had our circle time and said our pledge of allegiance.
Wow! I am so impressed with the children and how they can say the pledge. Way to go!
We are going over the months of the year and the seasons. What order they all come in.

We talked about Thanksgiving and what we are all thankful for. We wrote them all down. These will come home on our party day. They are too cute!
We then shared who brought what for our food drive. They get to put it up on our table. We are going to have to get a bigger table to display it all on. We have a huge amount of items...YEAH!!! Keep them coming.

We had our “Following Directions” art work…still working with some to get this done and some to get it done right. Our FD work today was our Teepee. Some of the children got the colors in the right places, some got tired of coloring and others just “got busy” and forgot the directions and to look at the picture that we had as the example. But this is an ongoing lesson. We will do these all year. We all have things that we jump ahead of or forget to follow through on. I was helping Dakota, who is 8, with a homework assignment. She could go to a website and answer questions and such. We read the FIRST question and she gave me her answer, I agreed with her answer. She clicked on the answer (it was multiple choice) and it said WRONG! I was shocked. So we went back and re-read the question…and there was a little detail at the end of the question. Which one of these was NOT in the blah blah blah. So, I tend to be a little more forgiving now to the quick paint brushes of young artists. Most of the time they are watching their friends do their work or play instead of watching their own paper. So don’t be too hard on them when the papers are unfinished or a little messy. Just give a gentle reminder to follow directions and listen to the teacher. (That’s what we say…follow directions and listen to your teachers!) It’s all good though. They will get it!

I hope you all got your Tom the turkey pictures. I want you to decorate these and be very creative. Use things that you have in the house, don’t go buy anything! You can use cereal, string, beads, buttons, and noodles… anything but honey. That’s a long story. We will hang these in our room and we love to talk about how they did it. Don’t get mad at me but Please moms and dads – resist the urge to do this for them. We love to see the crazy, messy pictures. We have seen the work that moms and dads have done in the past and they are just not as interesting and fun to talk about. So if you are rushed, don’t be, don't feel pressure. This is suppose to be a quality time and interactive project that you help your child have FUN with.

Also the note came home about our Thanksgiving soup. We will be “cooking” this next Friday for snack. We don’t make the children eat it but we do ask that they try it. We have discovered many like it and ask for more once they try it! Don’t forget to bring in your soup item next week!

We will send home a note about our Thanksgiving Feast next week. It is our Thanksgiving “party”. Everyone will bring in an item for our feast. This will be anything from chicken nuggets to chips, dip, to fruit or veggie’s. Everyone is welcome to join us for this feast. It will be at 11:00 on Friday 21st.

Well it will be all downhill from here until Christmas. WEEEE! Buckle up it is going to be a WILD RIDE!!!
